Lobby Plymouth City Council

E-mail Print PDF

Plymouth City Council will meet on 25th February to set it's 2013-4 budget.

This may not sound earth shattering, but it will be a vitally important date for the working class in Plymouth. Our Labour council is likely to set a budget which imposes £17 million in cuts to jobs and services that will devestate the lives of tens of thousands of Plymothians.

The City Council branch of Unite the Union have called a lobby of the meeting to let the council know that we will not accept their cuts, and are urging all trased unionists and progressive forces in Plymouth to join them.

The lobby assebles from 1pm on Monday February 25th outside the Council House, Armada Way

Plymouth Unite Against Facism meeting 11th February

UniteAgainst Facism are proud of the lead role that they have played in exposing bith the BNP and the EDL as the facists that they are, and helping to bring about the serious weakening of both organisations in 2012, and Plymouth TUC are proud supporters of UAF.
However, we cannot afford to be complacent. Austerity, cuts and the bosses crisis provide fertile breeding ground for fascist ideas, and the far right are on the rise in parts of Europe.

In order to keep up our defence against the fascists, Plymouth UAF have called an organising meeting:

7pm

Wednesday 11th February

at

Quaker House

Plymouth Unite the Resistance - this Saturday

E-mail Print PDF

Why you should be at Unite the Resistance in Plymouth Saturday 14th January

There is a huge need to organise the Fightback. This includes a number of key issues:

 *    Strike Action: The Unions are now split over the Pensions fight, but over 1 million workers have rejected the Government offer of negotiations within by huge cuts. The negotiations are only offered if unions accept working longer and paying more to receive less pension – exactly what we took strike action against on 30th November 2011, when over 3000 marched through Plymouth City Centre. There is still much to fight for - even unison are divided, with Unison Health rejecting the deal. The unions rejecting the deal MUST call strike action, before half-term - we can provide the lead! We must build and Unite the Resistance! http://righttowork.org.uk/2012/01/unite-the-resistance-lobby-of-the-tuc-and-emergency-national-meeting/
